Here are just a few of the Upcycled Subtle Vandal Paintings I've produced. Mainly rescued from charity shops and car boot sales, they are similar to Banksy Crude Oils but mine are subtler and I did it first, lol. Some of these are for sale and some have sold. Feel free to message me if you're interested in buying one. The painting below is titled the Happy Shopper. The pics show a before, after and close up detail of the additions.
The next before, after and close up shows something I added to a tired and damaged image of a lady embroidering. I decided to add a mirror in the background so that you could see what she was embroidering. It's an old fashioned sampler focusing on the alphabet, but this little lady has the emphasis on the Big D. It's new title is abc...D.
As soon as I saw this print in a charity shop I knew how I would change it. A little Angel faced girl but I wanted to give her a Kick Ass attitude. She holds a note that she has now written and a bunch of flowers hides a gun in her hand. She's that strong willed child who 'aint gonna be pushed around. Titled F.U. (This is now sold)
When I spotted this painting below in the bargain bin of a charity shop I could only think of one thing it needed, a Yeti. But where would a Yeti shop? Iceland of course! (This is now sold)
This painting below was a marketplace bargain, lovely frame but dated. I added some Wind-Up false teeth to cheer it up. I still thought it was missing something so added some loose change by the vase. I titled it Wind-Up Merchant.
A lot of my Subtle Vandal paintings have a funny or naughty twist, but I try to make the changes not too obvious. A film director bought the painting below and hung it over her fireplace, her parents still haven't noticed the woman in the corner firing ping pong balls at the Clergymen. I titled it Cardinal Sin.
I noticed a very large painting for sale on marketplace and mulled over what I would do to it if I bought it. It featured a farmer ploughing his field and to be honest was not very inspiring. I thought that if he had a wife she would probably be in the barn with the farm hand, so decided to upcycle it. It's new title is We Plough the fields and Splatter.
As I mentioned earlier, these are just a small sample of the many Subtle Vandal paintings I've made. Always funny, often naughty but most importantly breathing new life into unwanted paintings. The last painting I chose for the gallery is this oil painting of a sleepy village during World War Two when all the men are away and the postman is very popular. It features a 1930's housewife pleasuring the postman as he brings his special delivery. I've titled it The Postman Always Comes Twice.
Who could forget that sentimental classic film The Railway Children? When I watched it as a child I thought if my siblings and myself ran to watch the train go by we probably wouldn't have waved politely at it; so when I found this painting in a charity shop I knew just what I was going to do to it. It's now called The Wrong Way Children. Sold to a great artist who has it hanging in their hallway to greet people :-)
